MY ROCKING CHAIR - A Poem by Anamarie Fox

By the end of a weary day
In my rocking chair I sit,
To rock the wiles away
and relieve my tired old feet.

My body welcomes rest
as I let down my raven hair,
a deep breath escapes my chest
in the sanctity of my rocking chair.

I savor the calm and wash away the day's mess,
My rocking chair, my refuge
Where I feel my very best.

Yours might not be like mine
See, they come in different forms,
There's wood, there's soft and plush
But mine is not the norms.

My rocking chair is special
It's not made of just material,
Mine is the arms of God
The best peace I've ever had.

SETTLING THE SCORE

In all my years alive I have always been self-aware.  I've always wondered about how others dealt with their own troubles.  The evidence is clear that we all deal with our troubles differently. I wonder, if we all only knew ourselves well, would there be any hate or violence throughout history?

The disappointing fact is that even since the beginning of time, there was good and evil.  Even worse, Cain and Abel's murder between brothers was a clear indication of the future of this sinful world.  Why am I still so surprised and confused as to why or how one can bring themselves to murder another?

This situation is very discouraging.  The city is full of violence but the scenario has obviously not changed much.  How much hate could there be in one's heart to be able to act in such a manner?  Why can't we be able to control our passions enough so it doesn't spill over into violence?  I even see young children pushing, shoving, hitting each other.  One never wants another to get one over them.

Even though these situations are disappointing, there will come a day that all scores are settled.  God will not let these acts go unnoticed because God is the only one who has the right to take a life.  Violence is a result of sin, and God does not tolerate sin.  You will be judged no doubt.  But for now, all we can do is pray because one day all evil will be abolished and God will rule with only love and peace.  I cannot wait!

WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW WILL HURT

Most of us, after learning a sad and painful truth, sometimes regret ever knowing about it so we can return to the time before we knew about it.  A child coming clean about breaking your favorite knick-knack, that time before opening the door to discover your new puppy had torn your house apart, etc.

However, there are repercussions in turning your back on more important truths.  Not wanting to accept that one day we all will face judgment can be thwarted by our brains and simply ignored, but it doesn't make the judgment go away just because you did.  Another example is the thought of acceptance of unvetted refugees into our country compromising our safety for dangerous truths about terrorism under the guise of kindness.  In my humble opinion, there are alternative ways to rectify this world problem while keeping our borders safe, but I digress.

False sense of security is also a negative factor in shunning important truths.  We go on about our lives impervious to the fact that our lives are fragile and we have no idea when it will end.  Sometimes, we do know but push it to the back burner as if to believe that we are immune to death.

But what does happen if we are faced with death? Are we aware and ready to face our Maker?  Most of you are not ready, some even shrug it off.

In Ezekiel 18:20, "The soul who sins shall die."  By death here it means not a physical death but a spiritual one.  A dead spirit is one who does not join the glory of God in Paradise... Eternally.  Most people don't even try to understand the word eternal, but eternal means never ending, aka Groundhog Day.  If we do not inform ourselves about eternity, there will be a false sense of security because one has to really make an effort in this life through understanding of the Word in order to fully grasp the meaning of such gift from God.  What feels right to humans may not be what God requires for us to achieve life everlasting.  Natural humans cannot possibly comprehend the things of God UNLESS, we are born again.  And being born again does not mean a physical birth but a spiritual birth if, and only after, we have sincerely received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

THE BRIDGE TO YOUR MIND AND YOUR SOUL

Just like a tv commercial advertising its product, the words coming out of your mouth every time you open it is a tiny glimpse into your mind.  Matthew 12:34 points out, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."  So there is truth to the saying that to know how people think and what they are about, you need only to listen to their words.

Anger and evilness manifests itself from the human mind to the human tongue.  So it was with total shock and disgust when I saw one of the signs of a demonstrator during the Women's March a few days ago that stated, "If Mary had an abortion, we wouldn't be in this mess." It was with utter disgust and disappointment that I was naive enough to believe that such types of people exist on this earth.  It was then that confirmed for me that Jesus is coming back to earth very very soon.  I could not imagine how this woman's mind and heart works.  satan has gotten hold of her very core and slowly but surely rotting it.

After recovering from my shocked state, I drew closer to God and became so grateful of my strong relationship with Him.  I wouldn't trade that for anything in this world.  It only confirmed for me to completely revamp my own words to expose a mind throughly marinated in my love for God and not for the things of this world.

Thank you Lord for your presence in my life.  I hope you do the same.
