FRIENDS -- HOW MANY OF US HAVE THEM?

So the song goes.  People come and go throughout our lives and some stick around.  But what defines a true friend?  How easily would you call someone your Best Friend?  Is it because you have a lot in common?  You may have common goals, common interest, a common sense of humor?

I believe the commonality lies in a common heart.  Remember the movie “Beaches” and “Brian’s Song”?  Dramatic and tragic as they movie were,  embodies the whole concept of a true friendship.

However, those were movies that invoke these following questions.  It is easy to watch one and empathize but if you analyze each and every friend you’ve got at this moment, would they do the same for you?  Would you do the same for them?  Perhaps you already know the answers.

It’s a touchy subject, you say?  Something you're not very comfortable to readily speak about or even think about.   We love certain people, friends and family alike, so we tend to think that nothing bad will ever happen to them or even ourselves.  That’s nice, but unrealistic.  One day a friend will be in dire need and you will have to be faced with a decision.  What will you decide?

As I get older and as people around me become more and more engrossed in their own lives, I find that there are times when I feel alone.  Although when I am alone, I never feel lonely.  We all feel blessed, the ones with someone to share our everyday lives with, but I had also been on the other side and on the days when no one was around, I had a true friend in God.  Yeah, yeah, I know some of you may think I’m out there.  That’s ok, you have every right.  However, for those of you who know what I am talking about, it is the best feeling in the world to feel it ever so strong when there is only you and God.  God IS unconditional love.  Once you’re able to tap into that realm, you’re good to go.

One day I will tell you the story of how God sent me flowers.  Till the next rant, LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
